Alexander College has a long-standing history of educational excellence and this is owed, in no small part, to our established UK connections and collaborations with accredited UK Universities and awarding bodies. Initially, since its inception in 1991, Alexander was formed as an educational Institute in Larnaca with the main objective of offering vocational education to students wishing to enter the design and print industry. Our first cohort of students all graduated with Higher Diplomas awarded by the degree-awarding body, BTEC – a collaboration which continued successfully for a number of years. By the late 90s, the island saw many developments such as advancements in technology, rapid growth in overseas trade and employability and various social and political shifts. Thus, the development and expansion of the College also progressed. Our key focus was to introduce franchised Undergraduate, and later on, Postgraduate degree courses from UK Universities, eliminating the need for local students to leave Cyprus for a UK education and ultimately, a UK degree. By 2001, partnerships with various UK Universities were in place and since then, many new courses were introduced at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels including the ever-popular Law, Design and Business-related courses. Shortly after, Alexander expanded to a second location in Paphos, making our Business, Law and Accounting franchised UK degree courses accessible to students living on the other side of the island. Over the years, we have seen our students develop into artists, designers, photographers, business and Law professionals and equipped them with specialist skills which are valued by employers and are equally valuable for self-employment. Our students have won prestigious competition awards, exhibited work in major local and International galleries and have published work in various journals and magazines. We aim to continue to provide educational opportunities in a challenging learning environment that is supportive of students’ personal and educational needs while maintaining excellent standards and a high graduate employability rate.
