The University was established by the Decree No. 292, issued by the President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko of June 23, 2004 “On Establishing the Institution of Education “Baranavichy State University”. Vasily Kochurko, Doctor of Agriculture, Professor, became the first rector of the University. The University consisted of 5 full-time faculties (Engineering, Foreign Languages, Pedagogy, Law and Finance, Pre-University) and part-time faculties (Engineering, Pedagogy, Law and Finance). The training process was provided by 339 teachers, including 7 Doctors of Sciences, 45 Candidates of Sciences; 5,655 students studied at the university. The first international cooperation agreement was concluded (with the Faculty of Sociology of Moscow State University). The first issue of the student newspaper “My University” was released. Primary trade union organizations of employees and students, a student-run law enforcement unit "Alpha", the primary organization of the public association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union" were created.
