The Bayelsa State College of Art and Science was established in 2000 in Agudama-Epie, Yenahoa by the Gov. D.S.P. Alameiseigha administration. It was later converted to Bayelsa State college of Education in 2010 and relocated to Okpoama, Brass, Bayelsa State by Gov. Timipre Sylva administration. Following the amendment of the law establishing the Bayelsa State college of Education Okpoama on 15th of August 2012, His Excellency, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson change the name of the College to Isaac Jasper Boro College of Education and relocated it from Okpoama to Sagbama. The drive of IJBCOE is to become a first class citadel of learning in the country for the training of professional teachers through the promotion of highest ideals and best practices in academia.
