The University of the Cuenca del Plata (UCP) was created in 1993 by the Jean Piaget Foundation (1992), whose background, as the Jean Piaget Institute, came from primary and secondary education since 1982. In 1993, the UCP received authorization Provisional to function and from 1994 it began its activities with three faculties – Social Sciences, Economic Sciences and Engineering – and four undergraduate courses, Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Food Engineering with intermediate degree of University Technician in Food Analysis, Bachelor's Degree in International Trade with intermediate title of University Analyst in International Trade and Bachelor of Administration with intermediate title of University Analyst in Administration of Organizations. Added to the careers with which the UCP began its activities were Lawyers and Public Accountants with an intermediate title of Accounting University Analyst in 1997, a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising and a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism in 1999, a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Sciences in person and at a distance in 2004 and the career of Appraiser, Public Auctioneer and Broker in 2005. The definitive authorization, obtained in 2006, represents a fundamental milestone in the institutional life of the PCU, which was achieved after the first external evaluation of the CONEAU, carried out during the year 2004. By then the University had the experience of two previous external evaluations carried out in 1998 and 2000, by private consultants, which served as a reference for the Institutional Self-evaluation initiated in 2002. After the final authorization, the PCU began a process of creating new careers with the intention of meeting the socioeconomic demands of the region.
